What if it rains?2021-01-14T15:09:30+11:00

Hopefully we’ll be indoors! If not; we should come up with a plan B

What will I go home with?2021-01-14T14:35:43+11:00

I’ll give you a very real, very legal Official Commonwealth Certificate of Marriage with a registration number printed on it to take home to frame and tell everyone you’re married. HOWEVER, this one is pretty basic, it just says “I Ash, solemnised the marriage between John Smith and Jane Doe”, signature, signature, signature.

Image of a Commonwealth Marriage Certificate, exemplifying the official documentation couples receive on their wedding day with Ash Reynolds.

The NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages offer a more detailed certificate that I can purchase on your behalf ($60) using your registration number. This one is what institutions like banks, and name change departments are expecting when they say they need your marriage certificate. It contains more information like your parents names and your dates of birth. For the sake of $60, trust me, just tell me to organise it!

Sample image of the optional NSW Marriage Certificate, available for couples who choose to receive this additional official document post-ceremony with Ash Reynolds

Will my name change automatically after I say “I do”?2021-01-14T14:35:16+11:00

Not at all. You’ll need to apply to Births, Deaths and Marriages for this to happen AND they’ll want you to supply one of their versions of your marriage certificate (see the $60 box on my Price page)

What happen if one of us get sick?2021-01-14T14:34:55+11:00

Unless I’m dying, I’ll probably be there, but if something does happen, I have a way of getting you a replacement celebrant asap. If you guys are sick, try and give everyone as much notice as possible and we’ll postpone!

What happens if we have to postpone?2021-01-16T06:31:49+11:00

Things happen! You can’t push more than 18 months from the date we sign the initial form, and you can’t pull forward earlier than 1 month of the signature, but otherwise, if I’m free we’ll juggle it around.

…at Maccas? in a Cave? in an Aquarium, treehouse, sewer, prison, haunted house, cemetery, without gravity?2021-01-16T06:32:58+11:00

Yeeeeeeeees! Who cares! As long as you’re in “Australia”!

…on an Island?2021-01-16T06:32:55+11:00

As long as Australia owns the island. To be fair, you can marry on any island, but I can only do Aussie ones.

…in the Ocean2021-01-16T06:32:51+11:00

…as long as we’re in Australian waters. Are you thinking on a boat or under water? I’d look great in a wetsuit!

…in the Air2021-01-16T06:32:47+11:00

…as long as we’re in Australian air space. Wanna do a Sky Dive wedding? I do…

Can we do a surprise wedding?2021-01-16T06:31:58+11:00

Yes, but it won’t be like the movies. While the day itself can be a surprise, the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) still has to be submitted to me (signed by both consenting parties) at least a month before the surprise. That is definitely not a ‘no’ though! NOIMs are valid for 18 months, so we can get you both set up for a wedding day, even if only one of you know when it is going to be…

Can we elope?2021-01-16T06:32:02+11:00

Sure, it’s so ‘in’ right now too. You don’t get any special treatments though! I still need you to tell me more than a month before the big day, and you still need two witnesses over 18, BUT I can bring them along if you want.

Do we need pre-marital courses?2021-01-16T06:31:33+11:00

Only if you want them! I’ve got a few good resources if you do want some food for thought before saying ‘I do’, but otherwise, I’ll take your word that you’re ready!

I don’t have a birth certificate or a passport2021-01-16T06:25:07+11:00

We can get around that with a Statutory Declaration, but let’s chat about that privately

My name has changed since birth2021-01-16T06:25:01+11:00

My partner and/or I are under 182021-01-16T06:24:54+11:00

There are ways for you to get married, but I’m not your guy, sadly. I’ll happily wait around until you’re 18, but my personal choice is to not lock you into marriage before you’ve been out clubbing! There are plenty of awesome celebrants out there that would be happy to help out however, and this one is my favourite!

My Partner and/or I don’t speak English2021-01-16T06:24:48+11:00

There are ways to get around this, but as a personal preference, I choose to only conduct ceremonies where I’m sure both parties know what is going on without the need for a translator. There are plenty of awesome celebrants out there that would be happy to help out however, and this one is my favourite!

My IDs/documents are in another language2021-01-16T06:24:38+11:00

You’ll need to get a translation certified by a NAATI-qualified translator. If I see their stamp of approval, we’ll take it!

I want to get married in under a month…2021-01-14T14:43:44+11:00

Don’t stress; it is possible in extraordinary circumstances; but, I’m not your guy sadly. This is just personal choice, and there are plenty of awesome celebrants out there that would be happy to help out. This one is my favourite!

When do we book a celebrant?2021-01-16T06:32:24+11:00

Less than 18 months, but more than 1 month before you want to get married. Try not to leave it to the last minute!

What papers do I have to sign?2021-01-16T06:50:14+11:00

Initially you’ll need to complete a form called the Notice of Intended Marriage. This form asks all the big questions like your parents names, your occupation, if you’ve been married before, etc. It needs all three of our signatures on it at least a month before the big day.

Just before you walk down the aisle, you’ll need to sign a Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage. This swears that in the month since you completed the last form, you didn’t get married or anything elsewhere.

Then, during the ceremony, you’ll sign three more certificates. These are the special ones, and you get to take the big pretty one home, and I’ll take the two boring black and white ones.
